Completing legal studies, like in the whole world, similarly in UK, is associated with great prestige. No wonder that despite the huge number of places offered by private and state universities, the law is one of the most crowded destinations every year and not everybody is able to get to their dream university.
Description of the direction
Studying law lasts for five years and, as with most fields of study, it is usually divided into two stages – undergraduate and graduate studies. Their completion is not the end – the next stage is an app in the form of a professional internship, after which the graduate joins the state exam. During the first years of study future lawyers will learn about the basic subjects, including: theory and legal philosophy, history of British law, general history of law, Roman law, ethics, logic, jurisprudence. Then they broaden their knowledge about contemporary issues, including: constitutional law, criminal law, administrative law, civil law, commercial law, labor and social insurance law, public finance law, international law, European law, commercial law, administrative proceedings and court-administrative, criminal proceedings and civil proceedings. For graduates wishing to exercise their profession in an unlimited way, graduation is only half the success.
In order to be able to exercise your profession, a law graduate is obliged to do an apprenticeship, that is, to complete a professional practice, culminating in a state examination. The length of the application depends strictly on the chosen career path. Here’s how many applications are in each legal profession:
- Overall – 1 year,
- Legislative – 1.5 years,
- Bailiff – 2 years,
- Prosecutor – 2.5 years
- Attorney – 3 years,
- Judicial – 4.5 years
Only after completing the application and passing the exam, the graduate obtains the full right to practice his profession.
What can graduates of the law count on?
The length of required education is not accidental – well-paid jobs are waiting for talented lawyers. The high demand for lawyers has always existed in the structures of state administration as well as in the judiciary.
Capable trainees recruit renowned law firms, which may be the beginning of a successful, brilliant and attractive career from a financial point of view. Spectacular successes mean that a good lawyer does not need additional advertising, unlike in many industries, customers seek his services, for which they are willing to pay a lot. Lawyers value both efficiency and professional ethics, which consist in maintaining impartiality and objectivity.
The services of an army of lawyers or at least expensive legal advice are used by practically every successful company on the market. The rules of law govern almost all aspects of our lives and the economy, and the efficient functioning of the company can only take place with the participation of knowledge and experience of a professional lawyer.
